There are other products designed specifically for auto soft tops. On a side note- this product, while effective, has a rather strong smell to it; even after it’s dry the smell will overwhelm you (at least it did me) for a couple days or so. If you’re using it on your carpet protectors spray them outside (not while they’re in the car) and allow them to dry for at least a day. **Q: Does it make your mats slippery? How does does it stay on for realistically?** A: It didn’t make my carpeted mats slippery. It does have a unique smell but, that’ll dissipate after a few days. As to how it stays on…? That’s something you’d need to ask a chemist or someone with a technical background. **Q: Does the residue it leaves make it easier or harder to vacuum off dog hair?** A: Didn’t see any change on either. I have used this on previous cars and it is durable. Be aware after use let your vehicle air out for hours not minutes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Did the job and did not discolor off white Rav4 seats *by on Reviewed in the United States April 13, 2024* This did the the job but smelled awful for almost a week. My 2021 Rav 4 was getting water spots - literally stains from a wet raincoat, not food stains. So I used a damp cloth to scrub out the water lines. I had to scrub the whole seat, otherwise I'd be creating new water stains. After the seats dried over night I sprayed them with the water proofer. The overspray didn't leave a residue on the non fabric parts of the interior, but I did wipe it immediately. I was initially worried because the seat bottoms looked so dark so I gave the seat backs a light treatment. I figured I'd just have to do the head rests to match. But it dried and matched up, so when it dried I did a second treatment on the seat bottoms. I haven't had any issue with water marks on the seats at all. One can was enough for the whole interior. It has a terrible chemical smell that lingers. My car is garaged so I left the windows open for a few nights but still took a good week to go away. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Helpful product for fabric seats *by on Reviewed in the United States May 17, 2026* I purchased this to protect the fabric seats in my car.
