They have good arch support which helps to maintain correct foot posture and prevents flat feet & over-pronation which means you don’t get any plantar fasciitis, arch pain or metatarsal pain. They are thick and durable but have good flex and for the money I really think they are good value. Size-wise I bought UK size 10 and they fit perfectly in most size 10-11 shoes and work boots, they don’t slip around or fold over at all but are still easily taken out to put into different shoes. Update a month later: these are so good I've even got them in my slippers now. I actualy have high arched feet. Are these only good for flat feet ?** A: This is my personal opinion. I haven't got flat feet or high arched feet and my condition has improved slightly by wearing these. **Q: Would these help for pain in outside edge of the foot whilst running?** A: I don't run but I do a lot of walking. My plantar faciistis was so severe that I even battled to walk but the arch supports made it more bearable. I did daily ice packs for weeks to help alleviate the "tearing" pain" in the side of my foot but there is no quick fix. The arch supports certainly helped. **Q: I'm a size 5 and a half. Should I get the size 5 or 6 and cut it to size?** A: I think the three dimensional contoured design would make them difficult to accurately cut down to a smaller size. If you really want to try them I suggest you go for size 5. PS. Their comfortable, however I find them uncomfy after 3 plus hours but my plantar is particularly bad in one foot, they do help more than not having them. Give them a try if your plantar isn't too bad or need to realine your foot position. My left foot rolls quite badly inward so I think for me, a podiatrist made arch support is the way to go. I do think that these come in various heights of arch support too. Over all, their better than nothing, seems a negative review but try them, each of us has unique plantar & foot issues. They fit my shoes great, with some slight trimming.
