They were constantly being wrapped around the pole & I was having to untangle it. I have clipped one of these onto the bottom & they seem to be heavy enough to actually work. On an extremely windy day, they do still wrap around; but I think this could be solved by adding another weight. My only regret was getting a ball shape one.
