Update 2023Was caught off guard by a crazy wind storm will camping. Sustained 50 - 60mph wind that lasted for over 3 minutes. Boat became unbeached but didn't go anywhere thanks to this stake.Original review:Using in a pure sand beach on a lake to secure a 16 foot Starcraft Super Sport open bow rider.Used a rock to pound it all the way into the sand so only the very top of the stake is visible. Tied the rope around the shaft before beating it in to the ground. Have about 6 foot of rope on it with the nose of the boat pulled about a foot on to the beach. Rope angle taunt is basically flat. Really important, don't want to use too short a rope and have the boat pulling up on the stake. Gonna depend on your situation how long a rope is necessary. Boat was kept docked like this for a week long camping trip and never moved let alone broke lose. The weather was very mild, but I tried ripping and tugging on the rope hooked to the stake with a sideways force like the boat would and the stake didn't budge. Very convenient when used with a heavy duty D clip on the boat end of the rope for coming and going, no rope running a 100 feet to the nearest tree blocking everybody from moving on the beach. Pulling straight up on the rope I was able to get the stake out by hand with some effort.(Update 2021)For me this stake main purpose is a backup to the boat just being beached. Generally the boat will be fine but did have an incident where sudden high winds (50+ mph) caused my boat to break free from the beach. Fortunately my luck must've been running high that day because we were able to recover the boat before it smashed into anything. That incident is what lead to the purchase of this device. Have had an incident again since getting this stake where sudden bad weather caused the boat to break lose from the beach, but this time it didn't go anywhere thanks to this stake.Note that the little wire with a D ring on it that comes attached to the stake is not meant to secure the boat, I guess its for keys or something of that nature, I don't use it for anything.

I really like the design and ease of use. It worked very well with my 22' Reinell, but did bend under stress in a relatively calm lake. There were the usual wake surfing boats which I am sure did not help. Would be nice if shaft material were thicker. Hollow design does allow for a very strong hold yet easy removal from sand when done. But in my case, I am not going to be able to use it again. Still, for the price it is a good product, especially when paired with an anchor buddy system.

Totally worthless to secure a boat in any kind of current. Maybe great on a lake or someplace not mostly sand.

Used two of these to anchor my boat once I beached it. They held up great and didn’t move even in the sand. While using, there was light wind and it didn’t cause them to pull out or move at all.

This product doesn’t work. It broke on the very first use. Maybe for a jet sky will work, for not for a boat.
