**Q: Windows 8.1 won't be getting security updates in 2023-Can Passport  still be used to back up files & pictures from a windows 8.1 laptop?**
A: My best guess would be that it will continue to back up.  Passport backs up files, etc that are presented to it, it probably query the operating system re:  updates or no updates.
