Seems like the package does not lead u to believe only the description.** A: Labelling of "Espresso" can be somewhat misleading, but often refers to dark / very dark roasts. Other times it's used to indicate that these beans are suggested for espresso machines. Espresso is a drink, not a roast... similarly "Medium Dark" is a range not well defined by the standard roasts.. but probably refers to a City or Full City roast.So it's a bit more complicated, but final answer: if you're looking for something for an espresso machine, these should work (the trend lately has been to use even lighter roasts in coffee shops), if you're looking for a darker flavor for drip or something else, these beans should also work. **Q: How oily are the beans? I'd like to use this in my super-automatic but beans that are too oily will gunk up the grinder. Thanks!** A: These beans did not work in my Jura S8. If you are buying beans for a Jura, I would not recommend, as my machine found them too oily. **Q: Is the medium dark roast oily? We on our own website but have not yet on Amazon. It is something we are considering. The challenge is deciding what grind level to choose for such a huge marketplace.
