I work in the field of family law and find Dr. Carter's book to be easily readable, a valuable tool for educating parents and helpful to me in writing parenting plans and parenting evaluations. Dr. Carter's book takes very lofty and recent research and puts it in a format anyone can easily use in their practice. I recommend it to parents as I think it can help non-professionals to parent effectively through a difficult separation or divorce. I highly recommend this book. I am using it myself in my own practice and find it very effective. If I could give more than five stars I would! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2011 Reveals Limitations of Parent Coordinators and GALs *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2017* Dr. Carter explains what parent coordinators & GALs have been taught and NOT been taught and what they can and cannot do. She reveals how a parent coordinator or GAL, even with knowledge and skill, might not act independently and might overly rely on a judge or therapist that might also be misguided and might not get a true picture of the family dynamics and what is best for the children. It would be interesting if Dr. Carter would comment about Dr. Amy Baker's & Dr. Craig Childress's work on "restrictive gatekeeping parenting" as well as covert abusive parenting allowed by misguided or uncaring judges as portrayed in the 2017 documentary "Erasing Family.” ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent resource *by A***N on Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2020* The book arrived later than the date they assigned.
