It doesn't seem to twist or have a push option to advance it and you can't sharpen the pencil so how does it work?** A: You can sharpen the pencil. It didn't work with one of my sharpeners but it worked with another one. You might just have to keep trying. **Q: How does this compare to e.l.f. lip lock, which i just found out has been discontinued? the sharpening issue sounds like a pain. redesign?** A: It’s not a problem to sharpen the pencil. I love it and it really does help to prevent feathering of lipstick. As a former smoker(I have not smoked in 25 years), I have the vertical lip lines to show for it. First I use some concealer on my lips and rub in, then line my lips with pencil. You can use lipliner or not as you please, then apply lipstick! I don’t use a very creamy lipstick because they tend to bleed, but this pencil pretty much lasts all day for me.
