Review: Wait a few days - As on their product page it really does take days to deflate and feel like a proper mattress. I initially felt no padding and there were noticeable creases where the product came folded for shipping, but they all corrected by around end of day two. I experienced no unpleasant odors at all even on initial unpacking. Value for money for me is lower compared to their regular lineup.
Review: Worst experience - I purchased this premium mattress with high expectations because the packaging and outer appearance looked excellent. However, when I opened the mattress, there was an extremely strong odor coming from inside. The smell quickly spread throughout my entire home and became unbearable. Due to the intensity of the odor, I was unable to keep the mattress inside and had to dispose of it. What disappointed me even more was the inconsistent customer service experience. When I first contacted desertcart support, I was informed that a refund had been approved and that I would receive it within 3–4 business days. However, when I followed up after that period, I was told that I must return the product to receive a refund. Had I been clearly informed of this requirement from the beginning, I would have kept the mattress available for return instead of disposing of it because of the odor. The product appearance was good, but the strong smell and the conflicting information from customer support resulted in a very frustrating experience.

## Features

- PREMIUM JAPANESE FUTON MADE IN JAPAN: This foldable floor bed features a cotton surface and high-resilience wavy foam core designed to encourage airflow, distribute body pressure, and create a medium-firm Japanese-style sleeping surface.
- WAVY FOAM CORE SUPPORT: The profile-cut polyurethane core is designed for responsive comfort and airflow. Use the wavy, textured side facing up and place the flat side toward a hard floor or tatami mat.
- SPACE-SAVING SETUP: Use this folding futon in a studio, dorm, guest room, cabin, RV, or vacation rental. Unfold it at bedtime and fold it away in the morning to reclaim floor space—an easy extra bed for everyday use or guests.
- PORTABLE STORAGE & EASY CARE: The foldable design fits compactly in a closet and is easy to move between rooms. Use a cover, air the futon regularly, and keep it dry to help maintain freshness and comfort.
- FLEXIBLE JAPANESE-STYLE COMFORT: Use on a hard, flat floor or over a tatami mat. On a standard bed mattress, it can add a slightly firmer feel; add a thin cushioning pad under the futon if direct floor use feels too firm.
- A new polyurethane foam mattress may have a temporary characteristic odor when first unpacked. Odor intensity varies by individual sensitivity and does not indicate a product defect. The odor typically dissipates with ventilation and time.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do the Premium and Standard futons differ?**
A: The Premium model features a 2.4” (6cm) profile-cut core. Its wavy structure provides superior pressure distribution and airflow, offering deeper support and breathability than standard foam. It is specifically engineered for direct floor use.

**Q: Which side should face up?**
A: For optimal comfort, please use the side with the wavy, textured surface facing up. You can identify the top by touch; it is the side that feels distinctly contoured.

**Q: Where is the best place to lay my futon?**
A: Standard: Best on tatami or a mattress. Premium: Engineered for direct floor use. Both require a flat, dry surface. Do not place directly on slats to avoid sagging. Both models fold easily for use as floor sofas or travel camper mats.

**Q: How do I handle spills or moisture on my futon?**
A: Immediately blot spills with a damp towel; use a hair dryer on low for wet spots. To maintain hygiene and freshness, always finish by hanging the futon in direct sunlight to dry thoroughly. Avoid machine washing to protect the inner fibers.

**Q: What should I do if I discover mildew on my futon?**
A: Disinfect with ethanol in a well-ventilated area and dry thoroughly in the sun. Because moisture can penetrate deeply into the core, its color may remain. For your health and hygiene, we recommend replacing the futon if the growth is significant.
