Review: The Best Compression Socks I've Found - I've tried at least 7 or 8 other compression socks that all had problems - they didn't fit properly, they didn't hold their compression, they weren't comfortable, etc. But with these compression stockings, I've found a real winner. The product itself is A+ - well made, sturdy, they keep their compression after daily wear, etc. There IS a bit of a learning curve in using them - 1. You have to pull them on uniformly (meaning you can't just grab one corner and try to pull them up). The top of the stocking should be pulled up on all sides uniformly. 2. For me, they were a little too long and bunched up under my knee where my leg bends, or they bunched up at my ankle. The solution? I cut off the foot part of the stocking. Wow - what a difference! Easy to put on, no loss in compression, and so comfortable to wear now that I rarely notice they're on. The pair I have now has lasted almost 3 months with no sign of breaking, falling apart or loss of compression. As a consumer, you need to do your own homework and research sometimes with a product. The first set or two I had some issues (mostly they'd break, but it was because of the way I was treating them), but I knew the product was GREAT and I wouldn't find a better compression stocking. So it was up for me to learn how to make them work for me. I did, and I'm very, very happy with these Truform stockings.
Review: Excellent quality and comfort - I have owned many many pairs of these over the years as I have orthostatic hypotension. It gets really bad when it's hot so I get very dizzy and nauseous. My cardiologist recommended I try these instead of medication since the meds can be pretty dangerous and I am still very young... I had a pair of compression socks of another brand that were sheer and super duper uncomfortable. They dug into the area at the top of my foot and left giant marks on my feet. I did think the socks were helping but I knew I needed to try some other options. I got these and I absolutely love them. They are comfortable, a good price, fit well, and overall they've been very durable. They do not dig into the tops of my feet or crush my ankles like my old ones. I have pairs of all kinds- open toe, closed toe, knee high, and thigh high. I prefer the open toe for the most part since I am typically wearing them in the summer, but they can be a little bunchy if you are wearing sneakers. If you notice them slipping at all I recommend getting a product called it stays. A little roll on tube that keeps everything in place. I use them with my thigh highs and they do not budge an inch even if I wear them all day long. The beige can look pretty grandma and medical, but I really love that they finally started making white as they just look like normal knee high socks and can be a cute preppy look. Now I only wish they would make some colors and patterns!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What makes Truform different from other compression brands?**
A: Truform is part of SAI Brands, a family-run business in Cincinnati, Ohio since 1893. With 100+ years of medical manufacturing expertise, Truform maintains its own FDA-registered factory to ensure regulatory compliance for Class II medical devices.

**Q: What makes Truform Class II medical compression different from Class I general compression?**
A: Class II has a verified compression profile for a specific medical use and is regulated by the FDA. Class I is for "general use" such as lifestyle-type shapewear and sports performance. Class II must register a UPC and/or UDI barcode with the FDA.

**Q: How do I know if compression garments are Class I or Class II?**
A: Class II is a higher level of registration and device class which can be identified in the FDA's GUDID database. Unique Device Identifier (UDI) barcode and lot code are required on all packaging. If the barcode contains letters it is not Class II.

**Q: How do I know what compression level is right for me?**
A: If you are new to medical compression start with 15-20 mmHg. If you have no symptoms, are interested in preventative care, and or sit or stand for long periods of time then start with 8-15 mmHg. From there move up to higher levels as needed.

**Q: What does mmHg mean and how does it relate to graduated compression profiles?**
A: mmHg is a measurement of pressure and stands for "millimeters of mercury" - the highest number is the tightest point of compression (at the ankle), from there pressure decreases to move blood up the leg. This gradient is called graduated compression.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ even though they are not perfect. I plan to order several more pairs of ...
*by C***R on October 22, 2014*

I have serious issues with these, even though I gave them 4 stars. I got these support stockings for relief from burning feelings in varicose veins and for tired legs. They are the best-working ones I have used compared to other brands (T.E.D., Covidien, & others whose names have since washed out) - meaning that they gave me the most relief for the longest time each day. I have had them and worn them for 3 months at this writing. Because they work so well (albeit with adaptations) I feel that for me, they are definitely a 4 star product, even though they are not perfect. I plan to order several more pairs of these in the near future. PROS - these work very well for me for relief of varicose vein burning and tired legs, the leg portion fits perfectly and they don’t slide or fall down all day (my calf measures 13” at the widest point), sometimes I can work all day with them on and feel energetic with no discomfort. They are beige colored and seem fairly unobtrusive, color-wise. They seem stronger than other brands and have retained their strength better than other kinds over the 3 months that I have used them. CONS- they are EXTREMELY hard to put on and sometimes even harder to take off. I have shoulder pain, wrist weakness, and tendinitis that can make it very painful to put them on, too, as well as difficult because they are so strong and so tight. I have to work up the energy, extra time, patience, concentration, strength and resolve to put them on each morning (and to take them off at the end of the day!), but the relief they provide me has definitely been worth it. The foot portion of the new stockings was way too tight for my feet (I tried them for a week the way they were made and I couldn’t wear them for more than an hour or so) and they actually hurt my feet to the point I could not put up with it (I wear size 9 women’s shoes). However, I have fixed that problem by cutting off the toe end of the foot part of the stocking and leaving the heel and the ankle part of the stocking. Cutting off about 2-2.5” of the toe end has made them the most comfortable stockings ever – plus has made them much less difficult to put on. They are not particularly attractive hacked off, and threads do tend to fray in the long run, but they are so tightly knit that it has not been a problem for me to use them this way- I just snip off any loose threads as they appear. I do tend to wear thin cotton socks over them so the hacked off part is not visible. They also tend to take a long time to dry each night after hand washing, but if I put them near a heat or A/C register it can help them dry them overnight.
