Float switch consists of one float, a cord with piggyback plug, one large mounting strap and two small adjustable mounting clamps. Convert any manual pump to an automatic pump, up through 1/2 HP. Cord, Grey, 599117 Regular price $94.91 I'm an avid DIYer. Bought this float switch "Used-Very Good" three weeks ago for $32.83. Never been used! Had the original box been opened? Yes. Of course. But who cares? It works like a champ! Used it to replace my aerobic system lowest float switch, the one that fires up my Sta-Rite 1/2 hp 20 gpm sprinkler pump. Want to test it first before installing? Great idea. I tested mine for continuity THROUGH the piggyback plug, not lead-to-lead. (Check YouTube.) Then I cut off the piggyback plug and butt-spliced this new float switch with the existing wiring, using a wire connector crimper with butt splice head, plenty of assorted sizes of WATERPROOF heat shrink CLEAR tubing, an assortment box of butt splices, and wrapped it all up in 3M Super 33 electrical tape. (All these are, of course, available through desertcart.) (I actually had a double problem. My GFCI circuit breaker was bad, also, and I replaced it, also. Cheapest price was available at desertcart.) (I also took a course offered through the county Health Department which allows me to check my own septic system rather than hiring a septic service to come out every 4 months. I send in a report every 4 months and save about $300 a year.) Like I said. Works like a champ!

**Q: Is this a normally open switch?**
A: The float switch is normally open when the float/water level is down.

**Q: can this be used for well s?**
A: Yes, it is activated when the water level lifts the float up on its side causing the contacts inside the unit to connect causing the power to the pump to be activated.  As the water level drops the contacts separate cutting the electricity.  You set the float to activate by the length of the cord to water level.

**Q: does anyone know what I can use to send me an alarm when the switch is closed?**

**Q: How many gallons of water per hour ot minute it pups?**
A: Thank you for your interest in Little Giant products.  This is a switch.  It turns the pump on and off.  It doesn't actually pump the water.  This switch is designed for pump 1/2 HP or less with a maximum 13 Amps.
