Review: I give this lock latch 100% - Easy to install. Some people said they bought heavier screws, I do not see why. The 8 screws included work fine. I did need to drill pilot holes for the screws, which are not self-tapping, but that's fine. I have tested the unit by raising the garage door while the deadbolt is closed. 1. It holds the door shut, and 2. The deadbolt frame does not tear out of the door frame where it is bolted. My garage door frame track has square cutouts along it, and one of them was absolutely perfect size and width to use as a catch for the bolt when thrown, so I didn't even need to cut the metal track. I feel SO much more secure with this installed. I also installed a remote control switch between my garage door opener on the ceiling, and the electric socket on the ceiling, about $10. I mounted the remote control switch on the wall right next to the garage door switch by my entry door. This double protection will foil the thieves that use scanners to open automatic garage doors.

**Q: It looks like it installs only on the left side of the garage, but I need one for the right side. Can the lever be switched to the right?**
A: We suggest you switch the whole inside deadlock, it also works for the right side.

**Q: What does the lock engage in? Do you have to drill a hole in the rail?**
A: Engage it into the rail. Look for a pop-out in the metal and remove or pop it out. On my door the pop-out was not at the height I wanted so I cut out my own with a Dremel.

**Q: Do you need to hold the spring lock open before pressing the automatic door opener, or can it remain in the open position?**
A: The spring lock can remain in the open position.  If you have the spring lock in the closed position you will not be able to use your automatic garage door opener.

**Q: Do the screws stick out the front side of a sheet metal garage door?  (I would assume so)**
A: The lock screws into the frame of the garage door. The screws themselves are not long enough to go through the frame then through the door itself.

Easy to install. Some people said they bought heavier screws, I do not see why. The 8 screws included work fine. I was looking for a way to secure my garage door. They are original to my house and manually open and close. I have a 2 car attached garage and the doors are heavy solid wood. The key locks broke a couple of years ago but since I had 2 very large Rottweilers I was unconcerned about intruders they are gone now and I have a little shih tzu. About a week ago ( I live with my daughter and grandson) I’m disabled, a man just opened my gate walked into my yard and was looking into my slider. When asked to leave he asked for money or tools. So, I started looking for a way to lock down everything!! I found these garage locks and can padlock them into position if I choose! They were easy as pie to install!! And the price was phenomenal!
