I used it on a canvas jacket from Target for my 5 year old son. I needed a new one and decided I wanted a waxed canvas one and chose to use this one as it was a decent price for the amount. I ended up using 2/3rds of the brick because I wanted my fabric to be HEAVILY waxed and very stiff not just waterproof. It was very time consuming but if I had use the product as designed it would actually have been a fairly quick application. I found that heating the wax up and working with smaller chunks at a time worked better for the heavy application I wanted. I would recommend using it cold if you just want to waterproof your item and don't want discoloration. Just rub it on and melt with hair dryer. The wax will make your fabric appear darker but if applied sparingly as intended, you won't notice it. In my case it is very noticeable but I had dyed the canvas before hand with the idea that the color would be darker with wax and more akin to what it looked like while wet. The wax has very little smell when cold, you may pick up a faint paraffin smell if you put your nose in the fabric. And when warm you may pick up a bit of a beeswax smell. but you have to be looking to smell something.
