They are for sure sturdy bright well painted and fun to play with since they stay nicely on wooden tracks. My Grandson is an early train enthusiast and just 5 still quite picky about his trains. I ordered this engine for a little miniature railway i'm making and i absolutely adore how this one is. it is solid and doesn't feel loose like others from imaginarium or orbrium, and it has beautiful painted detail that i genuinely love. I say it's a great engine for kids and collectors alike i'll have to buy more from Maxim Enterprises from now on lol.
