Review: Amazing! I am so glad I found this!!!!! - I have always had the hardest time with my fingernails and toenails. My fingernails are very weak and soft, and they split easily. I keep them very short because I don't like to play the piano with much, if any, nail extending past the bed. It is not uncommon for me to clip in too far. Don't recall how I came across the idea of the crystal nail file but once I found it, it seemed like it couldn't hurt to try as it would be a cheaper easier solution to the problem then buying all sorts of nail supplements or polishes, etc. My nail file showed up about a month ago and I got to using it right away. Holy moly this thing is great! Not a single nail has peeled since I've been using it and since I've been diligent about keeping my nails moisturized and buffed these past few weeks the results are amazing. My nails are smooth and longer than they've ever been without polish. This is a great nail file for anyone wanting to go all natural with their nailcare. Add a cuticle cream and a two sided nail buffer to this and your nails are all set! Oh, and yeah - it's glass, so of course it's going to break if you drop it, just like any other thing made out of glass. So just be careful. It's worth it.

**Q: I get that nails on chalkboard feeling from touching frosted glass. Will this file be a problem for me?**
A: I get that feeling from all nail files, I just had to get used to it. If frosted or etched glass specifically is a problem, you might want to stay away, because this file is exactly that.

**Q: What is the grit on the two surfaces of the nail file?**
A: The grit seems approximately the same on both surfaces of the nail file. I use the file on natural nails; and, it's a comfortable grit that is both effective and does not shred natural nails or cut into the surrounding skin.

**Q: Does it matter whether you use a buffing cream with this?**
A: This is not a nail buffer, so you wouldn't use a buffing cream with it. This is a glass FILE, it's to be used only on the free edge of the nail, to shape the nail. 
It's not to be used on the surface of the nail as a buffer, and would not work well for that purpose.

**Q: are the sides abrasive or smooth?**
A: The sides are smooth

I have had thin, peeling nails for years. They would start to grow out and as soon as they got any length to them they would peel apart and I'd be back to square one. Then because they had already peeled, they would grow out very thin and would be flexible and useless. Don't recall how I came across the idea of the crystal nail file but once I found it, it seemed like it couldn't hurt to try as it would be a cheaper easier solution to the problem then buying all sorts of nail supplements or polishes, etc. My nail file showed up about a month ago and I got to using it right away. Holy moly this thing is great! Not a single nail has peeled since I've been using it and since I've been diligent about keeping my nails moisturized and buffed these past few weeks the results are amazing. Comes in a plastic tube so protected whether for travel or storage. Works much better than emery boards. You can file in either direction. Each pass is more effective than emery and it is two sided…rough and smoother. I will never go back to emery boards. Obviously,treat it gently. It is glass.
