But then I discovered that Canary has, for the same price as this unit, an otherwise identical model with a remote control! So I bought that one, which arrived today. The new unit was up and running in about 2-3 minutes flat, all the colors are working great, as is the remote, there's 16 different color features for blending colors, having only one stationary color ,having no color, 9 different mist settings....Unfortunately, there is no green color. This one is blue-red-yellow, not blue-red-green....And the green on the other unit really was a gorgeous shade of deep emerald, especially when it was running in an otherwise darkened room.Sigh.... I have tried to give the cons (no remote, no green) and the pros (everything else!) about both units. A remote is great, but an on/off switch on the cord is still pretty darn convenient. Both are quiet, colorful, and give off a lot of mist. According to my pocket humidity tester, these units raise the moisture in the air percentage in their proximity from 39-40% to 44-45%. No idea of exact range, but I have placed my unit in the middle of a large credenza, on which I have 10 herbs in pots growing. I believe it has enough range to cover that space, and the tester seems to confirm this. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep my poor plants happy until they can go outside again. I highly recommend either model, and I will probably wind up buying that floor stand model for the living room. I absolutely love it but the quality is so pi$$ poor that you really have to make some fairly decent modifications in order for it to not leak all over your floor. The stand is ridiculously cheap and when you try try to tighten the screws the coating that they put over them prevents a socket from tightening down the nut. I ended up using clear silicone RTV where the wire goes into the bowl so it wouldn't leak all over the floor. The stand is also wobbly and doesn't sit on your floor flat. I ended up spending a good 2 hours as a mechanically inclined person making modifications to this thing. Would I do it again? Probably because it is really cool but I do recommend you clean it frequently (at least once a week) and if you like to put a scent in the water like an essential oil it will diminish the amount of mist it puts out.
