I have it mounted in the windshield and it's summertime, I found both the device and the phone quite warm while it was having trouble charging quickly. I directed one of my vents at it with cold AC, I now get 1200mah charging rate consistently. I left the original review below but wanted to add this.] Full answer: I bought this because I have worn out my USB C port. I get in and out of my car a lot for a second job, and use GPS frequently. I needed something that could keep up the charge with GPS and screen running, but Google hampered their own device by going with some proprietary standard instead of the normal. I've been waiting nearly 2 years for a cheaper wireless charge device, but they disappointed me. Suddenly, and without fan-faire, this exact brand shows up on the Google store, and even more so it's claiming 10w charge ability. Looking at the specs of the Google stand, it says the same rate. Great, finally a less expensive option. But in reading reviews here, it's all over the place on if it fast charges or not. I took a chance. And I'm slightly confused by the end of my testing. But, the bottom line, most of the time I'm charging at about a 1000mah rate using Ampere to measure. But sometimes it measures much lower, even lower than 500mah. And sometimes the percentage of my phone battery display doesn't make sense with either of them. Let me explain: I've connected it, had it indicate wireless charging, and in this example it was at 86% already. Ampere reported 120mah. The lock screen told me it was going to take 47 minutes to reach full charge. I didn't touch it, just let it run, but with the screen off so I couldn't see Ampere. Then it steadily ticked upwards on percentage and down on time. Suddenly it was at 88% and 36 minutes to full charge, but it had been only 2 minutes. Then it was at 89% and 109 min to full charge, then 90 with 15 min to full charge. Once in a long while, it'll say charging, but still tick down while in use or stay steady while idle. Taking it off the mount and putting it back on results in much faster charging. Most times I can start it charging, and it will charge at a rate of about 7% in 10 minutes of driving with the screen off. That puts it on par with the fast wireless charger by Google. I don't know why I see the inconsistency, however I can state that this regularly pushes better than any other wireless charger I've tried that's not made by Google. The few moments of oddity, and that it won't say fast-charge, are strange for sure, but I'm blaming Google on that one more than this product. My educated guess is that Google pushed some update which allows some chargers to put out similar charge to their proprietary wireless charger, but don't want to make a big deal about it since it was a bad choice to begin with. The non-google Pixel 3 stuff: - It's an excellent windshield mount, utterly unmovable without a lot of dedicated force. - The one-hand clamp works fine, although I wish it didn't snap shut like it does. - The included charger works fine, the extra port is low power but work ok for smaller devices like bluetooth headsets.
Review: Fix for the micro-USB port - This is overall a nice wireless charger. My wife has had some problems with the phone overheating and stopping charging with her Samsung S9 but I have had few problems with this with my Samsung S10. My main problem is that the micro-USB plug only fits halfway into the socket. And I don't notice that it's come out a bit and my phone battery is draining instead of charging. Hope they will change the micro-USB plug on the next version so it goes all the way into the socket. I kludged a bit of a fix by wrapping some 1/4 inch (6 mm) electrical tape around the black plastic part of the micros USB plug 15 times, extending a bit over the metal part of the micro-USB plug that won't fit into the micro-USB socket. This allows the now-thicker plastic part of the plug to fit firmly into the plastic surrounding the micro-USB socket and helps prevent it from wiggling loose. UPDATE: I upgraded this to a five-star review. My kludge didn't work very well, so I contacted the iOttie's tech support. It was one of the best tech support experiences I have ever had. The sent me a new unit. I left my existing mount on the windshield, and plugged in the new USB plug. It hasn't come out since. Very satisfied with this mount. ***Update: the above was for the prior non-Qi version without the automatic clamp. I have the original five stars, the automatic clamping version one star, and the Qi fast wireless charging version of this five stars. desertcart thinks that I am reviewing the non-Qi original version, whatever, they both get five stars. I found that the original non-Qi version would basically power the phone but not charge it while using Google Maps with the screen on all the time, as I often do. This version will slowly charge – it charged 9% in about two hours on the road. But unlike the original, my phone didn't overheat and reboot. The Qi protocol must be more careful about overheating. I did find that if I plugged a fast-charging USB C cable into the bottom, attached to an Anker PowerIQ 3 car charger, it did in fact charge pretty quickly. I will use the wireless charging around town, which at least keeps the battery from being depleted, and plug the USB cable in the bottom on long trips.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid solution for Samsung S21 Ultra

I take frequent long (2+) hour car drives and use my phone for navigation, audiobook playback, music, etc. so being able to charge is important. I also wanted a wireless charger because my phone has been acting up with some of the USB cables I've used. Mount quality is solid. I needed to drive on my first day having the mount, so I attached it to the dash, and stuck the phone in. I noticed that after ~15m the leverage of the phone weight was causing the pad to become un-stuck, so I took my phone out and let it sit the rest of the day and overnight for the adhesive to set. I've been using it daily since then with no issues. Not blocking vents or driver view was important to me. With the multiple adjustment points for the arm and holder I have no issues with making the phone screen (for map navigation, for example) be in my line of sight while driving without having to glance towards vents or other screens. Release mechanism takes a bit of getting used to but now I've got the hang of it and can one-hand release while I'm getting out of the car--the phone doesn't fall out due to the 'feet,' making it a nice plus that I don't have to worry about catching the phone before it falls out. The only improvement I could imagine is faster wireless charging, but that's not a fault of the product. Assuming the adhesive continues to stick I don't anticipate needing a new mount, and wireless charging is make agnostic, so I don't have to worry about stashing lightning as well as USB-C cables in the car.
