These are just blue led lights.... **Q: Where is the filter located inside of the assembled tank?** A: Hi. There is no lid on the top of the aquarium and the filter sits on the right hand side. It's a nice filter does a great job. We clean it once a week and replace the charcoal bag once a month. The yearly cost for the filters is about 11.99. It has a nice waterfall effect to it. My daughter who changes her mind so many times a day is still in love with her glo fish tank.
