My kids might possibly take a liking to something new and healthy, but my husband (a meat and potatoes kind of guy) will just stop by a gas station on his way to work and pick up some candy bars for himself to keep on hand. So when I started a diet to slim down some for summer swimsuit season, I didn't even try and suggest he taste any of the more healthy items I bought myself.While shopping for some food, snacks and drinks to keep on hand for my diet, I read on a different product review about these KIND PLUS bars. I was shocked to see the high fat content, but a reasonable calorie number for each bar. And since what I'm counting is calories, I decided to go ahead and pick up a box of the peanut butter dark chocolate bars. I figured they would be handy to keep around for those days when everyone else is eating cake or cookies, and I was craving something sweet. So when I received the box I put in on my "diet food" shelf in out kitchen pantry.Shortly after getting the bars, and before I even had a chance to try them, I found two wrappers on the kitchen counter. Both my husband and my son had eaten one. I asked if they like them and they said they did, very much. I explained they were part of the more healthy foods I was keeping on hand for myself to have so I didn't get tempted by any of the other snacks or baked goods everyone else might be eating. Normally this comment alone (just a hint that this might in some way be healthy) would be enough for my husband to suddenly change his mind about how it tastes. Instead, he said I should go ahead and order another box, because he liked these even MORE than regular candy bars. By the time the second box I ordered arrived, everyone had eaten all the bars from the first box. My son likes to take a bar for his school snack every day, and my husband likes to keep one in his bag for a snack at work. So far, I've only been able to even get my hands on one bar to try! Everyone else lays claim to them for their work/school lunches.They are good and very chewy, so they take some time to eat. They are good if you are watching you're caloric intake, however if you're more so watching your fat grams, this bar does have a lot. Just one of the dark chocolate and peanut better bars has 13 grams of fat and 200 calories. Not a small number by any means. But they are healthier calories and fat than you are getting in a typical candy bar or a can of soda, which is just empty calories. These have a nutritional value to them, having protein and fiber in them. I'm quite happy that my family has taken such a liking to them, since I would much rather they have a snack with something healthy in it. This little nut bar was included in my variety pack of these yummy Kind bars that I had ordered from Amazon last month. The taste and texture of this nut bar is the exact same taste as the beloved "no bake fruit cake" that my Nana made us when I was a little girl back in the 50s and 60s. It must be the dates and the particular kind of nuts because it tickles my taste buds in just such a way as to send me back years ago. I thank you Kind bar makers as being genius in your combinations of ingredients. I love these things... Love, love, love. I have just recently made an order with Amazon for a box of 12 of these things... and just when I remembered a book I wanted and decided to add that to my order... gosh, well, I goofed up and I hope that Amazon figures it out for me just in time because if I get all 24 of these nut bars I am in real trouble. They are great tasting and packed full of nutrition, too! I use them for snacks during the day, and for any time that I need a boost of energy. They have extra protein, which fits perfectly into my eating lifestyle. You can really taste the whole nuts including the almonds, walnuts, and macadamia nuts in them. It's nice to be able to eat something where you can see all the ingredients. The only drawback on these bars is that they are a little hard to bite. This is not unlike other bars on the market. I like ordering them from Amazon because they came much quicker than when I place my order on the Kind website. These are great for people on the go. My kids love them as well, and I do not have any problem with them eating these bars. They are sweetened with honey, and have no ingredients that I cannot pronounce. I love the fact that they do not use refined sugar, but use honey which is a low glycemic index sugar that your body takes a while to absorb. I highly recommend these for anyone that is trying to eat cleaner and healthier. I like to buy the bigger boxes because we go through them so fast.
