Review: Love it! - I got the first Disgaea off the PSN and loved that. Spent a good 100 or so hours on it, didn't really get into the endgame content too much. Wanted to jump up a few games in the series to see what advancements they'd made, so I got Disgaea 4 (it was only $20, so I thought, "Why not?") and absolutely loved it too. All of the additions to the game really add to it, and I think I clocked in about 200+ hours before it started to wear down. Went through most of the endgame content, aside from the ridiculous stuff like Land of Carnage, but I might come back to it again to do just that. The characters are are a lot of fun, not as good as the original Disgaea, but still solid. Game still has the same wacky humor from the original too. It arrived on time with no issues and worked fine straight out of the case. This has me looking forward to the next Disgaea game with all the cool improvements they added.
Review: I'm loving it - This is a fantastic game. I bought it new, it arrived immaculate, there wasn't a wrinkle in the shrink wrap. If you enjoy strategy style games, you'll enjoy this. If you like Disgaea, you'll love it. If you happen to be a fan of Machete's and Penguins, this is definitely a series you can get into. While this title is a bit more serious than others I've played, it doesn't lack on humor, though it does feel a bit forced at points. The Characters are entertaining and the Create-a-Character is better than ever, especially with the magichange and evilities available. If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, don't let that dissuade you from giving this a try; They explain everything very simply and thoroughly. I thought it was an overwhelming amount of things I'd have to learn when I got it, but it is honestly very intuitive and adds a lot to the game. Enjoy Disgaea fans, you are number one!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Many improvements, but not quite as charming as previous titles
*by M***Y on August 14, 2013*

Let me preface this review by saying that I still consider Disgaea 4 to be an AMAZING game compared to other sRPGs outside of the series. The Disgaea franchise is known for its quirky sense of humor and amazingly deep combat system. Disgaea 4 does an excellent job of keeping up with that. Pros: +Keeps the core battle system of the Disgaea series but adds some much needed improvements. (Magichange is improved from D3 for example) +Wide array of classes (although not as many as you would hope- more on that later) +Charming characters +Cute storyline (but lacking slightly in depth) Cons: -Many classes from previous games are entirely missing, and they don't really have a good equivalent introduced. There are new classes, but many of them are just okay and I rarely found myself using them. (On a side note, you can get some of the classes from previous games but it requires the purchase of DLC) -The characters are cute and charming, but not as memorable as those from previous games. In fact, the game actually relies on bringing some characters back from previous titles as part of the main storyline. I don't mind that, but it definitely overshadows the original D4 characters and makes one realize that they aren't really comparable. -The storyline is probably the least compelling/cohesive of any Disgaea game (with the possible exception of Disgaea 3). It was cute and it did the job, but it just lacked some of the nuance that made earlier titles so memorable. Overall, great game in the series and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sRPGs. There are some minor complaints, but they definitely aren't enough to detract from the fun! Overall, GREAT game and I highly recommend it.
