Review: Great trekking poles - These poles are exactly as described and functional. It comes with a carrying case and multiple tips for various hiking and walking terrain. It is durable and holds its position well once set. Additionally, it is easy to adjust and shorten for putting in its’ case and in suitcases for traveling. Review: Best Trekking Poles for the Price. Period. Better than $100+ Name-Brand Poles. - These poles are an incredible value. I am a avid section hiker on the Appalachian Trail and a camping gear nut. So far I've put over 500 miles of hiking on these poles and they've held up great. You get all the things you look for in high-end poles, at a very reasonable price. These poles come with all the specs you could ask for in a trekking pole: carbon fiber shafts, flip locks, cork grips, extended foam grips, and several different tip attachments - all at just under 7.75 ounces each. Put the brand name 'Black Diamond' or 'Leki' on these poles and they would easily sell for $120+. In this product you are getting a very well-made product without the brand-name mark-up. I am 6'4'' and my friend is 4'11'' and we both have the same pair. They work perfect for people of all heights because of their adjustability. When looking for a good set of trekking poles, there are several specific features you should look for. 1. Carbon fiber shafts. Carbon fiber is much lighter and just a durable as aluminum. Definitely a must for those looking for light, yet durable poles. 2. Cork grips. Cork is much more durable than foam. It holds up better over time and it doesn't get slippery when wet. Pay extra for cork. Worth every penny. 3. Flip Locks. Don't go for the twist locks. They aren't as durable and break more easily. The flip lock mechanism is standard on all high-end poles and is something you should get if you want poles that will last. These poles hit all of these features plus more. I've also heard that this company has great customer service if you have any problems. I haven't had any problems with the product, but it is nice to know 'just in case'!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: These look exactly like the ones sold at costco for much less? also no anti-shock? Is that needed?**
A: They have poles at Costco, currently $70 for 2 pairs (4 total poles) but the poles being sold are the "normal" poles at 8oz per pole rather than the ultralight poles

**Q: What is the difference between the neoprene and cork handles? Not sure which to choose, they are the same price**
A: Cork has the following benefits:
  1. Cork is a natural at reducing bacteria. Get a splinter, blister, cut and cork will provide added protection,
  2. Cork will slowly imitate the shape of your hold ensuring a better grip,
  3. If it gets dusty or gritty during use, I use an old toothbrush to "sweep" particles away,
  4. Due to a latex intolerance, I avoid neoprene,
  5. Neoprene collects/absorbs smells,
  6. Neoprene may not show discoloration due to it's color, but it is very porous.
Hope this is helpful.

**Q: What is the primary difference between standard carbon fiber and 3k carbon fiber? Is it simply a strength related difference?**
A: Yes, it's a strength related difference and more. 3K means there are 3,000 strands of carbon fibers in the tow (the thread of CF that is then woven into a fabric). They are extremely thin, huh?! 6K or 12K might seem better, it is easier to manufacture using a broader tow but it is a heavier weave. This is like comparing silk vs cotton cloth. One is soft and flexible, but the other might be stronger, more durable or stretches better. The trade-offs for trekking poles are flexibility, shock absorption, strength and weight. Many trekking pole manufacturers are moving towards 3K as the right balance. That said, I'm not an expert but learning about it.

**Q: does this pole have anti shock feature? what is the difference between your 29.99 dollar pole?**
A: No anti-shock feature, but I didn't want one. These poles have same overall weight as a set that costs $189. The $39 set has quick lock system that I prefer instead of the twist lock system on $29.99 set. These are cheap enough that I don't worry about babying or breaking them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent hiking poles at an even better price
*by R***H on April 18, 2017*

Excellent hiking poles. I went back and forth on whether I wanted poles with shock absorbing technology and decided against it, as several sites said it would actually making going up and down hills tougher. I think that was a good decision. These poles are lightweight and tough. I love the cork handles as they don't get slick. They're also extremely easy to adjust while on the move. I haven't tried the accessory tips yet, but they are good quality materials (i.e. not flimsy). My rubber tips are eroding a bit, but I think that's normal for the types of surfaces I was hiking on. Overall I love these trekking poles; they provide just enough of a difference to make a heavy pack seem lighter. I've let other scout leaders try them as well and they noticed an immediate difference in their gait and pack weight distribution. Great poles at a great price.
