Why is it so much more expensive than most of the others available?** A: This candle is entirely different than any other battery operated candles. Most battery operated candles either glow from within or have a little bulb that shows and glows and sometimes flashes to simulate a burning wick. This candle has a "flame" made out of a light weight plastic sort of material that sits on a little wire. The flame is lit by an LED bulb within the candle. There are two tiny magnets that oppose and fight each other and make the flame wiggle on the wire. From a small distance you would swear that this is a real, live flame. I own 10 of these and LOVE them. The ones I own are all ivory. A while back I did get a really good buy at QVC so you might want to check their website too. Or other websites. I have purchased several from Amazon too. I use mine on the timer feature and they come on every night at the same time and burn for 5 hours. Two good quality D batteries will give you about 100 days of burn time using the timer feature. There is a remote available also in case you want to locate them in some hard to get to place. Or you can just turn them on and off with a switch on the bottom. I think you should go ahead and try one....get some good Duracells. You will love them........they look so real! Make perfect wedding gifts too! **Q: Will this candle turn on at a certain tim?** A: Whatever time you set the switch to timer is the time it will come on every 24 hours. It will stay lit for 5 hours, then go off. Back on automatically the next day at the time you switched it. If you use good batteries, like Duracell, it will last about 100 days. **Q: What batteries does it use?** A: Two D batteries. Rechargables are a great option. **Q: My year-old candle just stopped working. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix it? And, yes, I have tried replacing the batteries:)** A: Dust can settle inside on the copper wire that the "flame" rides on. It happened to me...it's really dusty here...I just gently blew across the top and it came back on. From a short distance, it looks quite real. I can't say that I noticed the vanilla scent but that is not why I bought it. I love the remote and really love the timer. Turn on the timer and it stays on for 5 hours. It turns on every evening at the same time. Love it! This is a lovely accessory without the worry of flame. Service and delivery was excellent. The only reason I gave this candle 4 stars for value for the money is because it isn't cheap.
