## Overview

The Cytron MD20A is a robust 20A continuous, bi-directional DC motor driver supporting 6V to 30V input voltage. Featuring a discrete NMOS H-Bridge design, it delivers high power without the need for a heatsink. Compatible with a wide range of logic levels (1.8V to 12V), it offers PWM control up to 20kHz and includes advanced safety features like overcurrent and temperature protection, making it ideal for automation, robotics, and embedded motor control projects.

## Description

The MD20A enables bidirectional control of one high-power brushed DC motor from 6V to 30V. With discrete NMOS H-Bridge design, this motor driver is able to support 20Amp continuously without any heatsink. This motor driver can be controlled with PWM and DIR inputs. With input logic voltage range from 1.8V to 12V, it’s compatible with wide variety of host controller (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PLC). Features: Bidirectional control for one brushed DC motor Operating Voltage: DC 6V to 30V Maximum Motor Current: 20A continuous, 60A peak Buttons for quick testing LEDs for motor output state PWM and DIR inputs Inputs compatible with 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 12V logic (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PLC, etc) PWM frequency up to 20kHz (Output frequency is same as input frequency) Compatible with sign-magnitude and locked-antiphase PWM operation Overcurrent protection with active current limiting Temperature protection Undervoltage shutdown Example Applications: Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), Solar Tracker, Game Simulator, Mobile Robot, Automation Machine.

Review: Excellent H-bridge controller - This unit is well engineered. They made an effort to use the PCB as a heat spreader. It used advanced manufacturing, and rework should not en done lightly. The ratings are mostly conservative. The unit val take huge peak loads. The power connection goes through a relatively small connection path, possibly intended as a fuse. The capacitors help with switching current and reduces power supply glitches. The controller can get confused and need a reset. This suggests there are some nice safety features - TBD. We used a thermal pad to the case to dump heat.
Review: Works as expected! - Easy to use. Connected to a Teensy 4.1 and is driving a linear actuator. Only tested ro 3 Amps peak but no heat at that level. Best value i coyld find for a controllable DC motor driver over 10A.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can i conect it to a rc receiver ?**
A: It depends on what output your RC board has. If it has a PWM, a binary output for direction, and a ground then yes most likely you are good to go.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Work very nicely with Arduino
*by M***A on October 27, 2020*

This board has nice on/off button for testing and built with TI chip. PWM input from external source works well and drive the motor with 20Amp rating. Arduino using analogOut function command scale to 0(0%) to 255 (100%) works very good too.
