It’s large enough for two average people, it’s comfy enough to be placed right on the ground, and I don’t have to blow it up. The padding isn’t extremely thick but it’s enough to have a firm sleeping spot. If you do end up camping with it, please put a tarp under tent and perhaps under this pad ! The condensation from body heat against the cooler ground can cause it to get damp, but with a blanket and tarp I didn’t notice any. This bed doesn’t roll up super small, but to me it was worth the space it took. I also have used it when visiting family, it’s quite comfortable. Definitely would purchase again, it’s allowed me to rid of all air mattresses ! Review: Pleasantly surprised with the how comfortable the mattress is - I ordered this as a temporary mattress to use after my dog had surgery. I have it next to the pin area that I set up for her in the living room to be able keep an eye on her at night. I purchased this one because it was one of the better sellers. I failed to look at the reviews before purchasing and once I did I was a bit concerned. However, I am pleasantly surprised. I would agree the thickness isn't as advertised but thankfully this hasn't been an issue. I've found it extremely comfortable and enjoy the firmness. The quality is nothing special, but it didn't come with any tears or ripped seams. The mattress is light weight and easy to fold up and put away on my own. ## Features - IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please Dry The Floor Mattress Under the Sun Firstly, it will be recovered more quickly in the sunshine. I ordered two types of futons and combined them with a fitted mattress pad cover. 2 people slept on them plus luggage road on top at times. 2 weeks in back of Jeep and they were just like new when I rolled them up and placed in duffel bags Combined weight of two of us approx 380 -400 pounds. Memory foam showed no signs of going senile. **Q: email me feedback about this item please how is quality?** A: The quality is very good! It was thicker then i thought is was going to be based on other reviews. Its pretty firm, and comfortable. I use it on my carpeted floor, and i sleep on it at least 4 to 5 nights a week. I have not woke up with aches or pains yet. I have been using it since january of this year. The material is very soft and there is a cover that can be removed to wash. I have not washed mine yet. **Q: How big is the twin? A lot of people are saying theres sizing issues** A: I just bought one of the tatamis and it is the size of a standard twin mattress. **Q: Would this improve a tired memory foam sofa bed?** A: I can't say improve it's not solid. It's meant to roll up when your done. But if you like it really soft and not firm it might be good then. I like a firm support for sleeping. So this is for emergencies for when I don't have a bed available. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great air mattress alternative ! *by T***N on October 12, 2026* This mattress was my go to for a 3 months camping trip across the USA! Update: the sellers are very responsive, which I very much appreciate. What I like: Bright colors are fun. Has a removable cover that can be washed--I laundered it before use and it doesn't shrink or pull up at the stitching. Fluffs up some once you remove it from its packaging. I did leave it outside for about 36 hours but I don't receive a lot of sun as I have a lot of trees. Kind of impractical to indicate leaving it in the sun, but it did fluff somewhat. Light enough to move around. Mine had no weird odors. Everything looked clean and stitching looked great, mostly (see below) Was packaged professionally in a branded-name box and not some unmarked careless packaging. It did roll up and fit into the provided bag and you can strap it. I was able to store mine in a corner of the guest room closet, out of the way. What I don't like/disappointed in: It isn't as comfortable as I thought it would be. I put it over a rug and slept on it but fitful sleep - couldn't get comfy- it was semi-comfortable but not quite thick enough. I put a 3 in memory foam mattress topper under it and boy then I slept very well and comfortably. But on its own, it's just not thick and soft enough. I am older - probably for kids or teens or someone younger it may be fine. I think $99 maybe is a bit too much for this considering it's too thin to be used on its own. Though this is marked as a full size, it's slightly under the dimensions listed. I didn't care so much about that but if you do, just note the size is not exact. The cover was more cheaply stitched. I would worry the zipper would fail after a time or after some washing. I was surprised at the stitching and zipper on the cover since the mattress itself is so well made. The storage bag quality looked good on the surface but when I tried to put the mattress inside the bag, it easily ripped right down the seam! I hadn't even gotten started on putting the bag in there, which is plenty roomy. While this is a great option for when you need that extra 'bed' for guests or in my case I gave my guests the bedrooms and I took this bed, on its own it's just not comfortable enough for me. I am so glad I had the memory foam cushion to place underneath as that made it so much better. My second night I slept great after a very restless first night. Maybe for a kid or someone much younger - sleepovers or something. I'll use it again for myself with the foam underneath. ## Frequently Bought Together - MAXYOYO Japanese Floor Mattress Futon Mattress, Thicken Tatami Mat Sleeping Pad Foldable Roll Up Mattress Boys Girls Dormitory Mattress Pad Kids Floor Lounger Bed Couches and Sofas, Coffee, Twin Size - MAXYOYO Mattress Cover for Traditional Japanese Futon Mattress, Futon Floor Mattress Cover with Zipper, Super Soft and Machine Washable, Navy Floral, Full - DHP Aiden Metal Futon Frame, Black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/146546919-maxyoyo-japanese-floor-mattress-4-thick-twin-size-foldable-futon](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/146546919-maxyoyo-japanese-floor-mattress-4-thick-twin-size-foldable-futon) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-30*
