**Q: It says that you just wash it in hot water to prepare it when you first get it.  does that mean no soap?  so basically just run it under hot water and**
A: Yes just hot water.  But be very careful when taking it out of oven, let it completely cool before washing.  I tried washing my stone before it was cool w hot water and it cracked in half
