Nonetheless, the 8x unit may be useful for projects requiring only a narrow viewing area in the center of the frame and a limited space beneath the viewing frame. The unit sems well constructed. The support arm can be manouvered in all directions and it holds steady wherever you leave it. The lens is glass and provides a high quality image. The light provided is bright and illuminates the targt appropriately. The clamp is metal and secures the lamp well to a desk. I rated the item 5 stars because it appears to be a quality item when used for a task it was designed for.
