## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would you recommend adding perlite for more drainage or would that be overkill?**
A: It wouldn't be overkill, just cut the Black Gold by 50% with perlite and the outcome is great.

**Q: Can I use this to start Aloe vera seeds?**
A: Yes, you can use this successfully to start Aloe Vera seeds. Be patient, though, because it will take a loooooooong time from planting a seed to getting a plant. Aloe Vera is so common I would get a couple of good sized plants and let them send off pups for reproduction purposes.

**Q: How many small to medium size pots will 4 quarts of your soil fill?**
A: 4" pot 3 per quart
6" pot almost two per quart

**Q: Would this soil be good for a ponytail palm and a snake plant?**
A: Not sure about a palm but a snake plant is a succulent and needs well draining soil so this should work. I use this soil for all my succulents.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Soil Composition

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My new go to product
*by D***N on March 31, 2026*

My cuttings really like it. First I did a water propagation. Then added to soil. They're doing really well

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good dirt for succulents
*by H***N on May 12, 2024*

Just transplanted many of my succulents using this dirt and have not lost any. 11 days later in decided to move one into another pot and was amazed how much roots had developed. The soil drains well but still allowing succulents to get just the right amount of water. I’ve been watering them every 4-5 days, but using very small amount of water per container. Love the quality and appearance of this cacti’s soil. Worth the investment.
