I think this is a reasonable set for a beginner, though not the best for more intensive or higher quality work. At the end of the day, this is a set of 9 nibs and 2 holders for under 10 dollars, so adjust your expectations accordingly and you'll be fine. PROS Most of the nibs are decent quality. I'm a fan of the B's (disc tips), and the C's (straight tip) worked fine for my wedding invitations. The variety of tips is good. Please note that most nibs are not suitable for fine lettering--think women's pinky nail or larger for "a" and "e". CONS The writing nib (513ef?) was awful. It scratched paper like crazy, and splattered ink when writing on standard printer paper. I suppose expensive paper might work better, but I have definitely come across cheap pen nibs that are better quality. The 102 and 56 were also meh, but at least they didn't scratch as much. The penholders were nothing to marvel at.
