Review: Works like a charm, great jar opener - I almost didn’t buy this jar opener because of the negative reviews, saying it would not open a jar and it tore up the lid. However, I saw an elderly lady demonstrate this who does product review videos and it opened jars for her perfectly so I decided to go with her review. I really needed a jar opener because my arms are getting weak. I am very glad that I bought the Oxo one because it works just like it’s supposed to. It’s very easy to use as long as you keep it flat on the lid and slide it until it stops. Then you give it one easy turn in the direction of the arrow on the opener, and it opens the lid very easily. It has metal teeth on one side that may dig into a metal lid on one part, making a small jagged place, but I found it only did that on one lid. It did not tear up plastic lids. So that is the only negative thing I found and it’s something I will just watch out for. Also, I wish it was a little bit cheaper than $15 however, I am very happy with my Oxo jar opener.

**Q: Does this jar opener work well for someone who has arthritis in her thumbs?**
A: I'm with everybody else here on this.  I have arthritis, especially bad in the thumbs, and if that weren't enough I have trigger thumb.   I don't understand some of the 'this doesn't work' reviews.  I'm weaker than probably 95% of people AND with arthritis, and this has been the best thing ever!   Happened to break my arm the month after I bought this and it has become invaluable!   I can not recommend this item enough.     It is so easy that it was actually shocking when I first got it home.  Everything from a bottle of water to a 4" diameter lid.  Super easy even though many things for me are prohibitive with no strength and arthritis, and now the damaged arm/hand.

**Q: One answer said the wide end was 4.5" wide. But can a 3.75" dill pickle jar lid fit far enough in to the opener to grip it and facilitate opening it?**
A: No.  This opener only works well on lids under 3".

**Q: Does it open something as small as a half-litre pop bottle?**
A: Yes works for all sizes of jars and bottles.

**Q: Is this supposed to have teeth on both sides or just one?**
A: I have an old - 10 or so years? - OXO, and it has teeth only on one side. Only the teeth are metal -  there is a non-serrated slim insert on the other side. Works very well......
