I used to use "Gunk" and it worked but smelled bad and also ate the seal-coat off of our asphalt driveway. This B-33 doesn't smell offensive, is water soluble, and doesn't affect the driveway finish at all. It works really good on plastic parts. I just apply it, go over areas with a soft bristle brush, and then rinse. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes about one whole can to do an engine one time so it is more epensive than other products. However, I bought a case of it here on Amazon which made the price per can much cheaper than buying at the auto store. This was a long answer, I guess, to say that it should work pretty well on your hoses and harnesses. I would use a soft bristle brush on them especially if they are really dirty.
