Most of them taste like cardboard or colored water, but Kicking Horse is easily the best I’ve ever had. I use the pour-over method, and I was really impressed by how well this roast holds up. Usually, decaf can feel a bit thin when you brew it this way, but this has a great body and a really rich, dark flavor. Even the bloom during the pour-over was better than most caffeinated beans I’ve bought recently. You can tell the beans are fresh and high quality. It’s bold and smooth without that weird chemical aftertaste you get with cheaper brands, probably because of the Swiss Water Process.
