Just zero out the gauge on the table, then hang the gauge on the blade, and dial in exactly the angle you want to cut. Can be any angle, not just 90 or 45 degrees, so if you want to make a pentagon, or hexagon, or octagon (or whatever) sided box, you're covered. The readout is clear, and reads in decimal degrees. I think the accuracy is +/-0.2 degrees, which is fine for woodworking, and better than trying to use a protractor or square. Doesn’t hang on to blades so have to hold it (yeah blades could be weakly magnetized but whatever the reason). Easy to use and seems to be accurate. Zero it to one surface and measure the surface of interest. Very simple and a lot easier than using carpenter square (and this can be used for any angle, not just 90 and 45).
