Review: This allows you to use your old DVD/Bluray reader/writer on a PC or laptop with no slot for one - It does exactly what it says and managed to see my old 5 1/4 inch Blueray drive as a DVD and Blueray drive. As a bonus it also managed to access a 3 1/2 inch SATA 3 hard disk as a hard disk. It also runs both at full USB 3 speed (if your PC has a USB3 port) Is just a dongle so no enclosure but much cheaper because of that I did ask US technical suport about the enclosed power supply and they responded fast with an answer to my questions on plug dimensions for an alternate UK power supply I was lucky that I already had a mains adapter plug to go from the enclosed US 2 pin power supply to a UK plug. They only sell the US version of the product and it comes from desertcart US. Delivery was reasonable timewise.

I have not tried it with formerly internal HDDs yet but I am wholly confident that it will work. I would therefore highly recommend this device to all who have old but working optical drives & hard disk drives from old computer builds but no bay or provision in their current computer rigs for the installation of an optical drive or not enough space for all the old HDDs they might have. I am absolutely delighted.

**Q: Does anyone know the power specifications of the power adapter ? Does it support 220V (50/60) ?**
A: Thanks for asking.
Yes, it is using a universal ac adapter and can go to any country, just need the right plug adapter. Input is 100 to 240VAC and the output is for 12VDC, 2A. There is a converter to split the 12V/5V for any 3.5" or 2.5" drives.

**Q: What indicator lights does this have? USB light? SATA device connected light? Busy light indicating that data is being moved around?**
A: It has a power light indicating power on. It has a USB light indicating connection and also same light flickers when transferring data.

**Q: Can i connect a 5 bay sata tower to this unit then to imac ?**
A: Thanks for asking.
No, I assume your 5 bay SATA tower may be using eSATA with Port Multiplier Function. This adapter will not support Port Multiplier Function. 
There is a possibility that if you connected it using the right cable (SATA to eSATA) it MAY see ONLY 1 (the first) of the 5 drives. That is just a "MAY" because there is not Port Multiplier Function.

**Q: does it support drives larger than 2 TB**
A: Yes, any drive size up to 8TB as of this writing (4/9/2018).

bought this for my old blue ray player i had in my pc as i could not find a cheap sata external in closure for it arrived quiet quick but beware it does not came with uk plug only the American version 2 pin i had a spare power source here i could use and it works flawlessly if you do buy this either get adaptor in advance so you can use it out the box and remember it only works with sata hd/optical drives
