It sprays a thin even layer of oil on meats or vegetables, rather than the time and mess of spreading by hand. It's great for laying down a little oil in an air fryer basket. The water sprayer I use mostly when baking, to increase the steam inside a Dutch oven. The nozzles turn 90 degrees, so you can have them fan out horizontally or vertically. The mist is generally pretty fine, sometimes it's a bit inconsistent but for the price, no complaints. I was between these two smaller ones and the large version. These fit better in my cabinet. If you're doing a lot of meal prep, then obviously the larger one may be better for you. I sent them back and got a different set and they are working out very well.
