I bought comply T-400 memory foam earbuds to go on the headset, and that improved the every aspect of sound quality. **Q: Does this resolve the issues concerning the minimal range that the Tone+ had?** A: So far, I have had no connection issues with this product. I can walk from my bedroom in the back and leave my phone in the livingroom and still have a connection. I use an Iphone5 with the device. **Q: how are these for running?** A: In my honest opinion, I (being an avid runner / hiker) do not feel that any of the HBS series are good for actual jogging / running. I've owned the 700 and 730 myself. With this being pretty much the same design, the unit tends to bounce around and rotate a little around the neck. If you are willing to pay more, you might want to consider the Jay Bird X. I own those as well and prefer those for jogging / running.
