If you are not familiar with all of the different kinds of cover stock (cardstock) then try to get the "gsm" of each one you are comparing. That is the only true way to compare the weights. This Index cardstock is 199gsm, which is more like a #67/67lb cover stock. This cover stock would be very easy to make into envelopes, but would be a flimsy card base (unless you added 2-3 layers on top of it to make it more sturdy). The key is to always score them first. Scoring keeps your folds from cracking and they look more even and professional. Some #80 regular cover stock (especially if it is metallic, foiled or has coatings), will crack a little bit even with scoring. It depends if your folds go with the grain (the direction of the fibers in the paper) or against it. Folding against the grain will produce more cracking. Anything approximately 216 gsm (#80/80lb regular cover stock) or heavier, will most likely produce cracking, even if you score it. Hope that helps. :-) **Q: It works with watercolor?** A: It can, but you need to go lightly with the watercolor - Use something like watercolor pencils and barely wet it. I use Distress Inks on them - sometimes with a damp brush and the 110lb does fine. It's amazing paper! I wish they still sold it by the case. **Q: If this is 110 it should weigh 33 lbs, but is listed at 7 which means it is really 24. Is this really 110?.** A: I agree - this is no where near 110 lb paper. It's heavier than the 80 lb, but not good for card bases. Very disappointed. **Q: Does this product have a glossy feel/look to it?** A: No. It is definitely matte. All paper is marked in pounds and/or gsm. Copy paper, cardstock, cover cardstock, and more. However, not all paper is the same. 110 lb copy paper is lighter than 110 cardstock, which is lighter than 110 COVER cardstock. This is as advertised. 110 pound plain old cardstock, NOT the heavier cover cardstock. I use a lot of different types of paper and thicknesses for my paper craft business, and as this is as advertised, it's perfect for my needs. Great for making your own index cards (some pre-packaged cards can be so pricey these days) as you can do exact sizes instead of relying on 3x5, half sheets, 4x6 or 5x7 cards. I typically use a paper trimmer and make 3 x 8" cards for my needs. Using self-adhesive laminating sheets, it holds up very well for making your own custom notebook covers as well as bookmarks, just DON'T use it on its own for this as it can be a bit flimsy without laminating. Plus laminating also gives it a semi-waterproof surface that's easy to clean. It's smooth on BOTH sides, so it's easy to print double-sided, too. All of my printers over the years (several HP models, now a Canon Pixma TS3722) have all accepted the cardstock well, with absolutely no issues unless one of my cats' toys have gotten into the paper feed. (Don't ask, I don't know, either.) I have honestly lost count how many times I have bought this over the years, but I refuse to use any other brand.
