Some people don't mind that, for others it ruins the painting. I would never seal a valuable water color painting. matt clear will not protect the painting from UV. Use UV glass to protect this painting; it can be purchased in matt. **Q: Would this product work good on acrylic art** A: Yes. I hav used it on a painting that was acrylic. **Q: Can this be used over water based paints, such as latex or acrylic?** A: I've had good luck using it over water based paint of all types. But with enamel paints if the matt clear is sprayed heavy, it can crinkle the enamel.
