My vet suggests doing it in the evening just before your pet settles down for the night, so it can get absorbed into their system before they roll and rub it off somewhere. Ever since using this product, I have not found any ticks on my pup. (I used to find them periodically. ) And since it also repels mosquitos - it’s another deterrent to help avoid heartworm. Been using for 4-5 years during tick season. Better than the collars, because it is absorbed on the pet and adults and children are not touching it after. Also doesn’t break or otherwise fall off. I’ve never experienced a flea problem with my pets, so I can’t speak to Vectra’s efficacy in comparison.
