**Q: is it pressed stainless steel ? or plastic as the only review states?**
A: It is metal. Looks like brushed steel. Definitely not plastic.

**Q: If it covers the water pipe do you have to take it off every time to empty the overflow?**
A: It covers the overflow with a small gap around it to let overflowing water out of the sink. It is purely cosmetic and Just makes  the sink look neater. I have never needed to remove it.

**Q: How does this fit?**
A: This fits really well. No issues but be careful not to bend the lugs
