Review: Smells like candy canes, and even diluted into a spry bottle, and a little goes a LONG way. - I have never purchased a larger bottle of Essential Oil before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far I am extremely pleased. Using it initially as a pest deterrent, as I have a little cubby area next to our attic that I realized some mice had made their way into - and unfortunately further into the cubby is an area that I am unable to reach to seal up properly, so after remedying the situation as best I could - I proceeded to use some of this diluted down with water in a spray bottle and went to town on the area. After cleaning as best I could, and then spraying the cubby with this somewhat liberally, I feel MUCH better now for two reasons. One: I know this is a deterrent to rodents and their sense of smell, so re-misting the area every couple of weeks will be easy to do. So I don't think they will want to come back in through that area. And two: The entire cubby and surrounding area now smell really nice - and just like what I would imagine that Santa's WORKSHOP smells like... Like Peppermint! Makes sense, right? Which to me is a nice win/win situation.

**Q: Is this corn mint (Mentha arvensis) or true peppermint (Mentha piperita)?**
A: I have reported this issue.  It must be removed.  This is NOT peppermint oil.  It is CORNMINT oil mixed with triethyl citrate oil.  Why is Amazon shipping an item that is obviously MISBRANDED?  I do not understand why this has not been removed.  All products which bear SOLD BY: Prime Time Commerce should cease and desist.  I am not an attorney/lawyer but this will eventually be known to one.  I bought the product, in good faith, with knowledge that it was MENTHA PIPERITA (Peppermint Oil) but it has PEPPERMINT OIL splayed across the label and the ingredients labeled as CORNMINT OIL and Triethyl Citrate Oil. It is not correct.  What else do you all need to know?

A: Menta Arvensis. It is cheap corn mint, not expensive Peppermint. You aren't getting a deal on Peppermint Oil, because you aren't buying peppermint oil. You are being scammed into buying corn mint by a company that fraudulently put "PEPPERMINT" on the label. Look up "Snake Oil Salesmen" if you want a historical definition of what they are doing.

**Q: The bottle says mentha arvensis. peppermint oil is mentha peperita. are the products interchangeable or was i lied to?**
A: The main constituents of MPEO are menthol (20–60%), menthone (5–35%), menthyl acetate (1–20%), and menthofuran (0.1–15%). MAEO is dominated by menthol (above 60%) and menthone (4–18%). Menthol is separated from this oil by crystallization and the remaining oil has an appearance and odor resembling MPEO. The dementholized MAEO is used as a cheap alternative to MPEO, but it is easily recognized organoleptically because of its harsh flavor.

**Q: There are many different varieties of peppermint, what is the botanical name of the variety your oil is extracted from?**
A: False: There is only one type of Peppermint (Mentha Piperita). Anything else is a lie or a scam. There are many different types of mint, however, like Mentha Arvensis, which is what this company is trying to pass off as Peppermint.

I have never purchased a larger bottle of Essential Oil before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far I am extremely pleased. Very strong stuff. I sprayed it half strength around tires of vehicles and inside engine compartments, avoiding the manifold areas to repel mice and squirrels. I do this about once or twice a month and it seems to be working and have seen no more evidence of rodents in engine compartment. We live out in the boonies and have mice issues and I have also sprayed it inside the house (inside the walls only ) in areas where mice have tried to chew through drywall and they have vacated that particular area and stopped chewing. I will say though that the peppermint odor is pleasant at first but becomes a little cloying after a while if you aren't that big a fan of peppermint so beware because it will last a few days. Other than that it seems to be affective in deterring rodents from where it is sprayed but needs to be reapplied a couple times a month.
