Review: The very best way to cut crown molding - This excellent product allows for the ability to cut crown molding perfectly every time. We just finished a project on my son’s new 3000 sq ft home, and it worked flawlessly. My wife, the trim carpenter of the household, had installed moldings for years using the flat cut method. She installed layer upon layer of moldings, often creating an appearance of 14-16” crown in our 130 year old money pit. The home had 12 foot ceilings and it looked incredible. The problem was that was 15-20 years ago and we have gotten old. This product made the entire process extremely easy. My son, with no experience at all, caught on very quickly . We used an adjustable clamp to hold the wood to the guide. That really helped since we were cutting 12 foot moldings.
Review: Do you Crown ? - Im' a wood worker, I made some cabinets and then after installing them I attemped to install crown trim, Well It was a challenge and I never finished, Crown trim sits at a 30 to 50 degree angle from its desired place and so when cutting you must cut compound cuts simultanously because the wood sits flat on the saw (miter saw), The difficult part is the placement of the blade since the resulting cut is on the bottom of the saw you cannot see where this is happening, thus you make an error nearly time. So this jig lets you cut the wood as you see it with your eye (or rather how your going install the trim in its place), or holds the wood so the cut can be seen, additionally when marking the wood with the face toward you so you can work around blems and such. YOU SIMPLY CANT CUT ACCURATE CROWN TRIM WITHOUT IT. Even a wood worker with years of experience with angles and bending wood I could not finish the crown with out it. I noticed a crown trim jig at the wood show this year and they had the same idea only they wanted a $1000 for their jig, this one was under $25 and it works great. A Must have, a standard issue for any cabinet installer. High Five!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work with a radial arm saw?**
A: Good Question.....I have both saws...a 10” radial arm and a double bevel compound sliding 12”. I cannot answer your question based on experience but sitting here staring at the pictures and having read the reviews and other questions, I suspect not. Why? Because if it did the manufacturer would be sure to brag about that. Also, it occurs to me that there would probably be clearance issues with the motor on the radial arm saw as well as the right and left cut issue to consider.. A lot depends on the design of the saw. If it were me, I would try to make my own jig at the angle required before I spent any money. I hope this gives you food for thought. BTW...if you don’t have a compound double bevel sliding saw, Harbor Freight sells some really fine saws that will do the job for you. We included the price of the saw in our calculations on our crown molding DIY job and saved a bundle of money versus a contractor.

**Q: if I am installing crown molding over a cabinet and not against the wall how do I use this? there would be no spring angle.**
A: All crown molding will have a spring angle as it is a characteristic of the crown molding itself, whether you are working with cabinets or up to a wall. Your cabinet face will become the vertical "wall" stand-in, and your ceiling will be the horizontal surface creating the 90degree angle. Depending on the crown molding you purchase, it will slant either 38, 45, or 52 degrees in order for the crown to sit flat along the cabinet and the ceiling.

**Q: My first time cutting Crn mldg, what is spring angle?**
A: PDFcrown spring angle - Install Crown Molding Like a Prowww.compoundmiter.com › help › Crow...Open this site and it will answer your question.

**Q: Can this be used with a 12" miter saw?**
A: I have a 12" Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw (Chicago Electric) from Harbor Freight and it worked just fine for all the crown molding we put in the house.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great tool. Two people makes it easier to use.
*by W***E on January 15, 2026*

Was my first time installing crown molding. Very pleased with the results. Have to be careful that the trim is positioned on the saw correctly. Sometimes “jumps” when starting the saw. Would be nice if it could somehow be clamped into place or maybe some rubber feet to hold in place. Used a helper part way through to assist in holding while cutting. As a DIY guy, can’t imagine doing it any other way. Almost all successful first time cuts. Great tool. Wife is happy with the results!
