It has weightiness to it, but it is still thin enough to layer smoothly under other pieces like blouses or jackets which is what I was looking for. It doesn't have the same structure that a woven blouse has, it is more form fitting, so I ordered one size up for a more flowing floaty feel. The armholes are a bit larger than I need now. I am not sure if these will work for summer heat and humidity, but for three-season wear will be useful for layering under those tops with too-low necklines or tops that are too sheer to wear alone. I am a large woman with large breast so this shell fit really well, if you don't fill out the front the arms holes will be really big because they were a little big on me. I like my clothes a little loose, so I was glad that this did not stick to my form either. I am 5'7" so the bottom of the shell fell right on my hips like in the picture shown. This is not silk but has a silky feel, the material felt very good next to my skin.
