If you're upset about this like I am, give them a call to let them know that you want the old chrome models back again - 1-800-326-6247 . **Q: does this one have the aluminum like metal, or the more solid shiny slick metal. There is a difference and I cant find the latter!!??** A: I have to disagree on the Hot Tools 24k Gold curling iron. Unfortunately your hair won't slide out of it like the Conair chrome barrel did, it's ok but not as nice. The barrel feels like a cheap metal, don't think you're getting a 24k gold barrel for $30, you're not. There are also a lot of complaints that it burns people's hair and stops working after a short period of time. I also contacted Conair and clarified that they no longer manufacture the chrome barrel curling irons at all. If you miss them, like I do, please call them like I did and request that they resume making them again - 1-800-326-6247. I've yet to find a suitable alternative, at least for the 1 1/2" barrel. More dumbing down of everyday products. **Q: Have shorter hair and considering 1 - 1/2 inch. Does it come with a glove as shown in pic? Thanks.** A: My hair is 3-4" in length and this iron works great. It does not come with a glove. **Q: I need a tangle proof swivel cord as I curl my hair in one direction. Is this what I'm looking for?!** A: This cord gets twisted and tangled. It does swivel, but that didn't stop it. Once it's twisted it's twisted for good too. ## Frequently Bought Together - Conair Instant Heat 1 1/2-Inch Curling Iron, 1 ½ inch barrel produces soft waves – for use on medium and long hair - Conair Double Ceramic 1 1/2-Inch Curling Iron, 1 ½ inch barrel produces soft waves – for use on medium and long hair --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/1051573-curling-iron-fine-to-thick-hair-1-5-in-barrel](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/1051573-curling-iron-fine-to-thick-hair-1-5-in-barrel) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-08*
