The spf 40 is more for dryer and sensitive skin types. Lactic acid can be drying/irritating for some ppl. I personally have acne prone and dry skin. In the summer months I use the uv clear spf 46. In the dryer months I use the spf 40. Neither of them break me out though. **Q: Is the suscreen zinc oxide** A: It is not *only* zinc oxide--it also contains octinoxate, a chemical sunscreen that's banned in Hawaii for being damaging to coral reefs. Do not use this if you have melasma, since the chemical portion will absorb UV rays and convert it to heat, which will aggravate the melasma. **Q: Is this one similar to spf30+ for dry & post-procedure skin, which i use for 3 years.
