We replaced our Vitamix with it, because we realized that the Vitamix plastic was getting scratched...A LOT! This meant microplastic was making it into our food, and that bothered us. This blender's jar is glass, so that solves that problem. We had low expectations as far as it's blending power, because the Vitamix is powerful. That said, we were beyond impressed with this blender's power. It's very loud, so I cover my ear. Haha! That said, I think it actually does a better job than the Vitamix in some ways. We have less issues with things getting caught in the corners and avoiding the blades. This is also easier to clean than the Vitamix, because it all comes apart. When I clean it, I just give it a good rinse, add water and soap, run it, use a brush to give it a good rub, rinse it, run it again with some clean water, and then I pull it a part and give a light rinse to the blades and gasket. Afterwards, I let it dry. That sounds like a lot, but it's actually much faster than the Vitamix. That entire process is finished within a minute or so...not bad in my opinion! It got to wear I didn't want to use the Vitamix just because cleaning it was such a hassle. I use this one almost daily, and it doesn't bother me to clean it. I waited 6 years looking for the perfect blender before I purchased this one. My prior department store blenders had all shirked at the effort of blending ice on a regular basis, and eventually turned into glorified ice crushers, but this little blender has been a faithful load beast and blends everything without complaint. It feels substantial and of good quality. The simple toggle switch is all that is necessary for blending everything from soups to smoothies. A mason jar fits well in place of the glass carafe, so I often use the blender to blend spices. It is a loud blender, but it is easy to clean, is powerful and works well, and is a stylish addition to my kitchen. In my opinion, it is an excellent blender, and when I wear mine out, I won't hesitate to purchase another.October 2014: Four years and this blender is still going strong. My blade was getting dull, so I ordered another one for $7 from Amazon. The blender is now like new. It's still loud, so I keep a pair of earplugs nearby.
