It is lightweight but sturdy, the handles stay cool. I've rinsed rice and lentils and none go through the holes. Pasta drains quickly so it doesn't get cold while you wait for the water to drain away. Fruit washes easily in it. It holds the same amount as my old colander, but isn't as tall, so it fits better in the cupboard. I've only had it a couple of months so I can't report on its long-term durability, but it seems sturdy. It is easy to wash. I'm very glad I ordered it.
