The stone looks like a little rock, and has a piece of rope attached through a hole so that you can hang it up to dry after use. At first use, there was some 'shedding' of tiny pieces of grit, but this was minimal and, I presume, natural, given that this is natural stone. In terms of performance, this is the best pumice stone I have ever used. I had not done my feet since well before lockdown, so you can imagine the huge build up of skinI had to deal with! This magical stone got rid of it all in no time. There was no need to scrub really hard, so there was no pain, and my feet are really smooth.
