If I pull it out to far I reach the wick under the wick collar and pull it back to the point it should be. If the wick is to short to use your fingers a pair of tweezers is helpful.If the wick is recessed in the wick collar simply hold the wick collar and twist the wick into the collar until exposed. Then pull the wick out until all of the twisted wick has been exposed. I wish they'd burn longer but the oil is consumed within 2-3 hours, which I did not expect. I also noted that the oil I got from Bolsius is a bit sooty so I will get a different one next time. I noticed that some have struggled with feeding the replacement wick through the metal tip and that there is a video/post about it that uses scotch tape. I actually have no major issues feeding the wick through the tip without tape but instead of doing it (intuitively) from the bottom of the metal tip (the one that gets re-inserted into the glass container), take the wick and feed it through the top of the metal insert; then pull the wick through to the desired length. Very easy. The glass is not thick and I can see why some would rate it as flimsy; I would say it is delicate but having gone through at least 10 refills now without breakage, I think they do their job well.
